Pauline M. Kueper, age 99 of Carlyle, died Tuesday, Jan 26, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was born Nov. 4, 1910 in Crawford County, a daughter of Roland and Pearl (Gariepy) Plotts. She married John W. Kueper on May 22, 1947 in Carlyle, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1977.
Mrs. Kueper is survived by a son, John F. Kueper & wife Jane of Carlyle; a daughter, Marilyn Kueper of Springfield, IL; 2 granddaughters, Jaclyn Kueper & fiancé Jon Hummert, and Alicia Kueper; and 1 sister, Lois Shields of Laytonville, Ca. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Verna Singleton and Jane Garrett, and a brother, Roland Plotts.
Mrs. Kueper was a 1930 graduate of Carlyle High School, and received her B. Ed degree from I.S.U. in Normal in 1941. She taught intermediate grades for 35 years in Cass, Clinton, Madison and Will Counties. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Assn, and an honorary member of St. Joseph’s Hospital Aux, the Clinton County Historical Society, Carlyle Women’s’ Club, a charter member of the Clinton County Mental Health Assn., and an 85 year member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
