Ruby Talmadge (Moore) Peters was born November 27, 1924 in Omaha, NE to Rosen Dewitt Moore and Thoma Mae Moore. She was one of six children. She was united in holy matrimony to Arthur “Pete” Peters on November 7, 1940. Ruby was the mother of eight children.
Ruby provided many years of faithful service at St. John’s Mercy Hospital and the Girl’s Home in St. Louis, MO. In her free time, Ruby enjoyed the outdoors. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed fishing. Bingo was another of Ruby’s pastimes, but most of all, Ruby cherished spending time with her family. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Church of God in Christ in Richmond Heights, MO.
Ruby was called home February 20, 2010 at her home in Carlyle, IL. She was 85 years old.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; mother and father; sons: William Roscoe and James Wayne; brothers: Rosen “Baby Moore”, Thomas, Henry, and Caldwell Moore, and sister: Lois LeGrand.
She leaves to cherish her fondest memories six children: Mae Peters, Joyce Peters, Arthur Gerald Peters, Eunice Houston, Sheryl Jean Peters, and Avis Peters; sister-in-laws: Louise Moore and Victoria Peters; 19 grandchildren: Anthony Peters, Gary Peters, Michael “Big Mike” Peters, Stephanie Peters, Dedra Peters, Michael “Little Mike” Peters, Christopher Roberts, Sharon Peters, Lacey Peters, John Peters, Nathan Peters, Walter Houston Jr., Melissa Spates, Jennifer Peters, Derek Peters, Ashley Black, Vincent Phillips, Undrey Caffey, and Arthur Patrick “Pat” Caffey, ; 33 great grandchildren, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:45 AM on Friday, February 26 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
