Biography
Dolores E. Huene was born on March 28, 1925, in rural Carlyle, a daughter of Harry W. and Anna I. (Hetzel) Voland. She married Bernard Huene on October 26, 1943, in Bend, Oregon and he preceded her in death in 1979.
Dolores was a cutter at Moran Shoe Factory in Carlyle and also worked at shoe factories in Trenton and Salem. During World War II, she worked at Chevrolet Shell Plant in St. Louis, and retired from Rockwell in Centralia. Mrs. Huene was a member of St. Mary’s Church and St. Ann Altar Sodality at the church. She was also a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Catholic War Veterans and Knights of Columbus Auxiliaries and the Clinton County Historical Society. She enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Dolores E. Huene entered into rest on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. She was 84 years of age.
Mrs. Huene is survived by 2 sons – Jerry Huene and wife Carolyn and David Huene and wife Edith, all of Carlyle; a daughter – Angie Falbe and husband Dick of Carlyle; 9 grandchildren – Traci Bastuba and husband Bill, Trischa Nabholz and husband Matt, Tammy Copeland and husband Don, Cindy Rapp and husband Steve, Tina Wessel, Kim Henkel and husband Bret, Winchester Falbe, Shannon Greiner and husband Aaron and Andi Stephens and husband Schuyler; 19 great grandchildren – Lauren, Ryan, Colin and Nick Bastuba, Anna Marie Nabholz, Amanda, Brendon and Breana Copeland, Morgan and Kendra Barackman, Dale, Dylan, Dustin, Melissa and Mindy Wessel, Jenna Edwards and husband Mike, and B.J., Kortnie and Kody Henkel and 2 great great grandchildren – Carter and Ryan Edwards.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister – Arlene Voland; 2 granddaughters – Michelle and Dawn Huene and a great granddaughter – Danielle Wessel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Keith Michaels and Fr. George Mauck, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. – service time.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Huene may be made to St. Mary’s Church or to the Clinton County Historical Society and will be received at the funeral home.
